acher: Cacher is a code snippet library for developers. Code “snippets” are small, reusable pieces of code that can be integrated into a larger codebase. Developers often talk about snippets having certain functions and discuss how to implement snippets in constructing larger and more complicated programs. Cacher is a cross-platform cloud-based app used to build a technical knowledge base for a user and to their team. Cacher is developed and maintained by Penguin Labs., LLC. In this article, we will check out the methods available for installing Cacher on Linux Ubuntu 18.04 LTS(Bionic Beaver), 19.04(Disco Dingo) and other Ubuntu-based Distros and Debian.

Install Cacher on Ubuntu 19.04/18.04.2 LTS- Using Terminal:

Note: Snappy is pre-installed on Ubuntu 16.04 and Higher Versions and however, it can be installed using sudo apt install snapd

Follow the below steps in order to install the Cacher via terminal. Launch the terminal using shortcut key CTRL+ALT+T and type the following command in the terminal.

$sudo snap install cacher

The terminal will ask you for a password, provide your user account password to proceed with the installation process of Cacher.

Install Cacher on Ubuntu using Ubuntu Software – GUI:

This is an alternate method to install Cacher on Ubuntu. We will use Ubuntu Software to install the application. You can either open Ubuntu Software and search to Cacher or simply click on the following button to open the installation page of Cacher on your Ubuntu Software.

Launching Cacher on Ubuntu:

Using the below two methods the Cacher can be launched.

  • Launch via terminal
  • Launch via all apps menu

Launch the terminal using shortcut key CTRL+ALT+T and type the following command in the terminal.

Launching Cacher Ubuntu via the All apps menu:

Click on the all apps menu icon in your Ubuntu desktop. Type the keyword “Cacher” so that it will be displayed below. Go ahead and choose the Cacher icon so that it will be launched automatically.

Cacher Login:

A user can log in Cacher with a GitHub account. Users without a Github account can signup for a new account and then continue to the login of Cacher.

Permissions to Cacher:

A user can enable or disable the desired permissions to Cacher by clicking on the permissions tab.

List of permissions available for Cacher:

  • Access files in your home folder.
  • Play and record sound.

Remove Cacher from Linux Ubuntu – Using Terminal

Follow the below steps in order to remove the Cacher via terminal.

  • Launch the terminal using shortcut key CTRL+ALT+T and type the following command in the terminal.
  • Execute the following command on the terminal.
$sudo snap remove cacher

The terminal will ask you for a password, provide your user account password to proceed with the removal of Cacher.

Open Ubuntu Software and search for Cacher in the search box. Click on the remove tab in order to remove the Cacher GUI.
