Install Bitwarden on Linux Ubuntu 18.04 LTS/ 19.04- Using Terminal:

Note: Snap is pre-installed on Ubuntu 16.04 and higher versions. However, it can be installed using sudo apt install snapd.

The following are the steps involved in the process of installing Bitwarden password manager on Linux Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, 19.04, Linux Mint, KDE Neon, Kubuntu, Elementary OS, Debian, and other Ubuntu-based Distros and also on Debian. Kindly follow the below steps.

  • Open Terminal on Linux Ubuntu using CTRL + ALT + T.
  • Execute the following command on the terminal to install Bitwarden on Linux Ubuntu. Kindly enter your system password when prompted to authenticate the installation process.
$sudo snap install bitwarden

  • Once the installation process is complete, then you can launch Bitwarden from Show Applications.
  • You need to either create a new account or login with the existing account of your Bitwarden to start using the application.

Note: If you are looking for the Command Line Interface of Bitwarden for the purpose of having it on the Ubuntu Servers, then it can be installed using sudo snap install bw.

Install Bitwarden Password Manager on Ubuntu using Ubuntu Software- GUI:

This is an alternate method to install Bitwarden on Ubuntu. We will use Ubuntu Software to install the application. You can either open Ubuntu Software and search of Bitwarden or simply click on the following button to open the installation page of Bitwarden on your Ubuntu Software.

How to Remove/Uninstall Bitwarden from Linux Ubuntu:

Run the following command on the terminal to remove or uninstall Bitwarden from Linux Ubuntu and Ubuntu-based Distros.

$sudo snap remove bitwarden
