The command to download VirtualBox 6.1 on Ubuntu 18.04 & 18.10 is,

$wget https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/6.1.0/virtualbox-6.1_6.1.0-135406~Ubuntu~bionic_amd64.deb

VirtualBox 6.1 for Ubuntu 19.10:

The command to download VirtualBox 6.1 on Ubuntu 19.10 is,

$wget https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/6.1.0/virtualbox-6.1_6.1.0-135406~Ubuntu~eoan_amd64.deb

Here we using the Ubuntu 19.10 version and so we need to use the above command to download the VirtualBox 6.1 version for Ubuntu 19.10 system.

  • Search as “VirtualBox

  • Click the icon to launch the application on your Ubuntu PC

Remove VirtualBox 6.1 from Ubuntu System:

It is quite complicated to remove the app from your Ubuntu PC. We suggest the below commands If the commands are not working and then create a question in our Forum to solve this issue.

$sudo apt-get remove virtualbox* --purge

  1. Although the installation went OK, I got the following error:

    “RTR3InitEx failed with rc=-1912 (rc=-1912)
    The VirtualBox kernel modules do not match this version of VirtualBox. The installation of VirtualBox was apparently not successful. Executing
    ‘/sbin/vboxconfig’
    may correct this. Make sure that you are not mixing builds of VirtualBox from different sources.
    where: supR3HardenedMainInitRuntime what: 4 VERR_VM_DRIVER_VERSION_MISMATCH (-1912) – The installed support driver doesn’t match the version of the user. “
